Topic: Changing of names

Hello, I'm not aware if this has happened to you (it has not happened to me either).  But one of my members of my alliance was told to change his name (Light Bulb of Blue Light), and I was curious as to why this has become a new policy.  I realize it was an old policy but personally I think it is ridiculous as I don't think any names especially this one deserve to be changed.  His I really don't understand.  This is mainly directed at Suicine as he has been the one sending these messages.  Hopefully someone can get back to me asap.  Thank you.

Re: Changing of names

7. Planet, Ruler, and Alliance names must be in the spirit of the game. No "real world" references (fictional or not) allowed and are subject to change without notice. This includes names that contain references or are offensive, rude, derogatory, sexual, inappropriate, or just plain silly.

Personally, it doesn't sound very much in the spirit of the game to me. He is an inanimate object?

Re: Changing of names

It is still the job of the Peer Panel to check and challenge the names that do not seem to fit the "theme" of the game. Unfortunately, due to school and work, some of the Panel have been a bit inactive, especially myself. I realize now, that I should have made a post here on the forums to let everyone know that the names will be actively enforced. I will bring the concerns to the Panel and discuss the following approach. Until then the name changes will be put on hold until a decision can be reached.

I wouldn't call Myst as a random event ... more like constant storm

Re: Changing of names

I guess that is true, but then again we've had some odd names in the past such as Hammer of Thor that have not been enforced.  I understand that that was your job Suicine, all we were looking for was some warning.  Thank you for the quick reply Suicine, I really do appreciate it.

Re: Changing of names

Unfortunately the peer review panel hasn't been as um, active as some would wish lol

Re: Changing of names

Well i understand the rule, having names with the same theme of the game create a little more in depth of an atmosphere but then again, i think there are bigger problems to worry about then peoples names not coinciding with the game. As long as their not derogatory in nature.

Re: Changing of names

The thing is, names are about the only thing that (a select few of) the community can do on its own besides reporting issues.
